Rachel Forrest
Associate Prof
Eastern Institute Of Technology,
New Zealand
Rachel Forrest(Biography)
Through her research efforts, she has pioneered the development and commercialization of a gene marker designed to enhance cold tolerance in sheep. The proceeds generated from this innovation contribute to the ongoing exploration of additional gene markers for application in animal breeding, establishing a robust foundation for continued research. Her Cold Tolerance Gene-Marker Test (CTGMT) is one of six currently accessible through the Lincoln University Gene-Marker business. This enterprise holds the distinction of being the global pioneer in providing such cutting-edge technology to sheep breeders. Consequently, New Zealand Sheep breeders have emerged as trailblazers in the global adoption of gene-markers for advancing animal breeding practices.
